Our Location
Our hotel is proudly located in Winckley Square, one of the most beautiful and historic areas of Preston, Lancashire. The square and its buildings were built around 1801 in line with the Georgian fashion of symmetry and order.
Within walking distance of the high-street, hidden in the beating heart of the city, Winckley Square is alike to being in a small Georgian village. In contrast, the park in the centre reflects the natural ‘lie of the land’, giving it a unique sense of being in the countryside, while still in the city ‘Rus in Urbe’.
On the high-street, you will find a vast selection of shops and boutique stores to satisfy all your shopping wants and desires. When it comes to finding a scrumptious meal or perhaps a drink or two, there is an abundance of choice available to you locally to our hotel.
Just a stone’s throw away you will find the beautiful Avenham Park, located in Preston’s Conservation area, leading down to the banks of the River Ribble. Designed and built in the 1860s, this historic grade II listed park features several historical structures such as The Belvedere, The Swiss Chalet, The Boer War Memorial and Riverside Walk. The park is one of two city centre Victorian parks in Preston, the other being its neighbour – Miller Park.

263 opened inside Winckley Square Hotel
A lot has changed over the last two years including the introduction of 263, which opened inside of Winckley Square Hotel. Becoming Preston’s first ‘2 Rosette Restaurant’ (AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence), it offers a bespoke fine dining experience. 263 inspires guests with flavour-driven dishes and elegant wines that are perfectly paired to create a first-class experience. Design Inspiration
Winckley Square Hotel is a Luxury Boutique Hotel comprised of 14 uniquely designed apartments…Secret Garden, Mayfair, The Lodge, Bouquet, Chic, Polo Club, J’Adore, Library, Chalet, Den, Bond, Rose, Study & Venice.
Each of our apartments were designed by our very own interior designer, Laura Walker-Williams. When asked what inspired her vision for Winckley Square Hotel she stated:
“Our apartments tell me what the theme will be, the space, ceiling heights, the lighting, it all comes together to provide a truly luxury space.”
We also asked Laura which room was her favourite within the hotel, her is her response:
I couldn’t pick a favourite, as each one is special to me for a different reason and being different, together they make our boutique Aparthotel.
For example, The Library is a lot of fun and allows people a unique apartment that they can love and enjoy for a weekend away, but certainly would not have in their home.
The lodge on the other hand allows parents to be themselves, having their children close enough not to worry about them, but far enough away that they can enjoy themselves.
What is next for the Walker&Williams group
Our group of Aparthotels are growing, and we are excited for the launch of our brand-new sister hotel The Hotel Chester, which opens its doors for the first time in February 2021.
Thanks to the success of both Winckley Square Hotel and No.10 Preston, the Walker&Williams group have now got a total of # new planned Aparthotels, across Chester, Ormskirk, Manchester and more.
